CWR Satellites began in 1984 with owners Chuck and Ann Champine. This family-owned business is
located in Armstrong, Iowa.
CWR began selling TVRO (TeleVision Receive Only) satellite systems. These satellites had a large dish which moved to different satellites
positioned in the Clark Belt. These satellites were also known as BUD, Big Dish, C-Band, and Full View satellite
TV.
CWR main product line is DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) satellites, particularly the Dish Network
system. These satellites are about 18 inches to 3 feet in diameter and are mounted with direct positioning to a
satellite. DBS is broadcast in the medium- to high-powered satellites operating in the ku frequency. These satellites send encrypted data to
receivers which unencrypted programming. DBS is now providing DHTV capability.
CWR has also expanded their product line based on local
customer needs. Selling spas, saunas, cell phones, and wireless internet. Their spas and saunas are produced by Great Lakes Hot Tubs.
Nokia and Motorola cell phones are available
with Midwest Wireless contracts.
